Our Pastor
Rev. Rick and Sis. Janice Smelcer
Pastor Smelcer was an evangelist in the jail ministry and other churches for many years prior to being called to pastor Maryville Baptist Tabernacle in October 2002. Pastor Smelcer and his wife Janice have been serving at Maryville Baptist Tabernacle for 18 years.
They both have a burden to serve with great love for the church and community. Sister Janice is a cancer survivor with a wonderful testimony of how God worked during that time in their life.
They have raised two sons (Shawn and Chris) who are married and also serving in this labor of love along with Pastor Rick and Sister Janice. Shawn is the oldest and serves in our music ministry and both he and his wife, Stormy, lead our youth ministry. They have two daughters who are very active in church and our youth. Chris is the youngest and serves as an evangelist and pastor of Gilead Baptist Church. His wife, Ginger, serves as a youth teacher at Gilead. They have one daughter who is very active in church and the youth at Gilead.
Invitation from our pastor:
Please accept my personal invitation to come and experience for yourself Maryville Baptist Tabernacle. I believe you will receive a warm welcome and meet some great friends. Our members have a sincere passion for God and a genuine love for people.
My desire is to meet and help those who have not yet accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and newcomers in the community who have no local church home.
